577 20th Year Celebration
"THE 577 FOUNDATION TO HOLD 20th YEAR CELEBRATION The 577 Foundation will hold a Virginia Secor Stranahan/The 577 Foundation Twentieth Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, August 16, 2008 from 10:00am to 4:00pm & Sunday, August 17, 2008 from 11:00am to 5:00pm & Concert on the Lawn from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. The free, family oriented community event will feature the best of what 577 has offered for over twenty years and many of the individuals who have helped make Virginia’s dream come true will be there. Guests will be entertained at every turn as they stroll the grounds and participate in various activities such as learning about honey bees, exploring and interacting with characters living in an 1803 log cabin, digging for fossils, potting a small plant to take home, sampling salsa from one of the gardens, browsing for a literary treasure at a used book fair, making apple cider with an antique cider press, making a puppet and watching a puppet show, learning about and seeing pottery demonstrations by some of the regions best potters, taking a nature hike with a naturalist, and numerous other fun activities. The event will also feature face painting, balloon animals, story telling, solar energy and composting displays, and treats in the Children’s Garden and Virginia Stranahan’s former home. Visitors are invited to wander the grounds at their leisure and explore one of the best kept secrets in Northwest Ohio. "
