Midwest Academic Talent Search

"Midwest Academic Talent Search (MATS) is a program of the Center for Talent Development (CTD) that offers above-grade-level testing for academically talented students in grades 3-9...

MATS uses the following above-grade-level tests: EXPLORE, ACT and SAT. The EXPLORE test, normally given to eighth graders, is used to gain perspective on the abilities of 3rd-6th graders... The ACT and the SAT, well-known tests used for college admissions, provide a more accurate picture of the mathematical and verbal reasoning abilities of talented 6th-9th graders.

After testing, students and parents receive information about specialized curricula, enrichment programs, and accelerated courses of study. This valuable feedback and planning material helps families use students' test scores to plan for the future."

Registration starts in September and ends in December through January, depending on test taken. More information is availabel online at the MATS site.
